Growing up in Peru, Zoila Ponce de León saw disparities in access to healthcare from a young age. She may not yet have had the language for it, but she was already asking the questions she would spend much of her early career working to answer: Why is it so difficult to access healthcare? And why, when these problems are so widely recognized, won’t politicians do more to change the system?
